Plan on roughly 4–6 square feet per duck inside the coop, plus a larger outdoor run or pasture area. They need dry bedding, good ventilation, and predator‑proof locking at night. More space always equals calmer, healthier birds.

A pond is optional. What they truly need is access to clean water deep enough to dunk their heads and bathe—like a kiddie pool, stock tank, or large tub you can dump and refill regularly.

For breeding, a common rule of thumb is one drake for every 4–6 hens. This keeps fertility high without overbreeding the females.
